2016 was a historic year in the fight for $15/hr. Nationwide, $15 won in the entire state of California - the world's 6th largest economy - parts of New York, Oregon, and more. In Minneapolis, workers collected almost 20,000 signatures to get $15 onto the ballot, winning 68% support for a proposal to take all Minneapolis workers to a $15/hr minimum wage.
But the City Council blocked $15 from the ballot, stealing the vote from Minneapolis voters and defending big business groups like the Chamber of Commerce.
The fight to win $15 is far from over. Workers will keep organizing and building pressure until we win, and winning $15/hr is more urgent than ever.
We need to mobilize a grassroots wall of resistance - including mass protests on inauguration day - to fight Trump’s racism, sexism, and xenophobia, and demand pro-worker policies like a $15/hr minimum wage.
Join 15 Now Minnesota to discuss how we can build the fight for $15/hr under a Trump presidency!
